End of an Era: Exploring the Retirement of YouTube Stories and Its Impact on Content Creators

In late 2017 Youtube introduced YT stories for their users. Youtube was the latest platform that moved to stories format. Snapchat and Instagram stories formats success had behind that move.

Content creators in Yt who have 10000+ subscribers are allowed to upload YT stories and Stories appear to their subscribers for 7 days.

However, Youtube announced the retirement of “Youtube stories”

Youtube said

Today, there are many ways to create on YouTube — from Community posts to Shorts, to long-form and Live. To prioritize these key features, Stories are going away. Starting on 6/26/2023 the option to create a new YouTube Story will no longer be available. Stories that are already live on that date will expire 7 days after they were originally shared

Youtube stories are never had much more engagement. Community posts and youtube shorts have more engagement than youtube stories and content creators didn’t make revenue through youtube stories.

So That decision will not doing a big impact on creators on Youtube.
