Meta Axes Facebook Hobbies section: Why the Removal and What It Means for Users

According to Meta, they decided to remove the Facebook hobbies section from it. This section does not have a considerable impact on users.

App researcher Ahmed Ghanem shared this screenshot, As in the screenshot Facebook is notifying users that Hobbies will soon be gone from the app.

Well we should look back at why Facebook introduced to section

When they introduced that section they thought users use this info to help you connect with other Pages and people related to or interested in the same hobbies.

When that section was introduced Meta said,

“You can add hobbies to your Facebook profile to express yourself and find friends who share similar interests. The hobbies you select are always public, and you can add as many as you’d like.”

When Facebook added that option in 2019, professionals guessed that most people had never used it, and probably didn’t know that it existed. However, it does, just only temporarily, as Facebook has removed its listings for hobbies.

It will only be available for a few more weeks, so if you have uploaded a list of your hobbies and would like to download any related information (just in case you forget what you’re interested in), you should probably get on it.
