Whatsapp decided to cease their services for several devices from 31st December
Whatsapp is the most famous instant messaging app in the world. They provide their services for many mobile phone models in the world. Recently WhatsApp decided to cease its services for several phone models. These mobile phone models that have ceased WhatsApp services include very high-end brands.
Commenting on this, WhatsApp company said,
Devices and software change often, so we regularly review what operating systems we support and make updates.
The main reasons for that ban are these devices also might not have the latest security updates, or might lack the functionality required to run WhatsApp.
Whatsapp said,
To choose what to stop supporting, every year we, like other technology companies, look at which devices and software are the oldest and have the fewest number of people still using them.
Any phone running Android 4.3 or below, and IOS 9 or below, won’t run Whatsapp reliably after 31st December 2022
This ban means that new updates of Whatsapp will not support these devices, It doesn’t mean WhatsApp will not stop working completely on these old phones.
